• Stair should always be built in South and West direction only.
  • Stair should never be built in North East direction.
  • Stairs should never be made round or circular.
  • Stairs should always start from East to West or North to South.
  • Number of steps in stair should always be odd. Counting of step is important.
  • If the stairs are in South East then the facing should be in East. If it is in South West, facing should be in West. If it is in North West, facing should be in North.
  • There should not be any bedroom above stairs.
  • There should be doors at the start and end of the stairs.
  • Steps of the stair should be smooth and of proper height so that the person climbing it may not feel pressure.
  • Edges of the steps should be smooth and not broken.
  • Color of the stairs should be light.
  • Black granite or stone should not be used in stairs.
  • Stairs should never ever be built in the centre of the plot.
  • Place below the stairs may be used to keep unused items.
  • Avoid stairs of steel or iron.
  • Stairs of wood is Ok.
  • There should be separate stairs for upper floor and the basement.
  • Do not keep idols /God under stairs.
  • There should always be a shed on the top of the stairs if it is not concreted. It should not be kept open.
